On 7th May, it was Tisbury Memory Group’s 12th birthday and members and helpers were lucky enough to go on a celebratory outing to the Hawk Conservancy Trust, near Andover. The visit was sublime in every way!

Throughout the day we saw a variety of birds including a Burrowing Owl, pictured here. They are native to Canada and the Americas.

We also watched two spectacular, awe-inspiring displays where the birds of prey flew close overhead. The experience was thrilling and deeply moving for all, making the visit utterly unforgettable.

Watching these birds was a fitting moment to reflect on TMG’s own flight path: stimulation and fun, all the while countering assumptions and stigma about memory loss, and showing that our lives continue to include belonging, interest, new friendships and new experiences. We, too, can soar!

We are extremely grateful to the People’s Postcode Lottery and to Barchester’s Charitable Foundation for generously funding this visit.

And at the close of our twelfth year, we deeply appreciate every act of support that has helped TMG keep going. To everyone who has played a part in any way - thank you!

Onwards.
